Question – I recently changed some paperwork like owner’s name, I went from sole proprietor to single member LLC, changed my sales tax id and got an EIN. My question is now that my business is a single member LLC do I have to get a different EIN in order to submit that number on my Amazon account or just use my SSN?
Our response – Since going to a new entity, you will probably need to get a new sales tax license, but not every state handles the conversion from a sole proprietorship to a disregarded LLC the same. In most cases, the IRS will let you keep the EIN, but you will have to contact them to update the entity under that number.
